When it comes to defining Black LOVE, we all have individual interpretations. We all desire love and support from those we care for. We desire understanding, connectivity, and interdependency; however, what we desire is not always what we receive, or what is given. The trick is discovering each other’s individual definition of LOVE. Society offers general definitions based on white love, and white psychology, and Black LOVE, has never really fit into white definitions. We come with our own explications, and those explications are as distinct from white culture as we are individually from one another.
Honestly, Black LOVE has yet to be defined. And what is presently masquerading as Black LOVE in Black music, makes mockery of Black LOVE, inserting misogyny, for intimacy. Black LOVE has been hijacked and grossly misrepresented. But I am confident Black LOVE will thrive, once we rid ourselves of society’s ideas, and definitions of Black LOVE. Once we define, for ourselves, the meaning of Black LOVE, we will then begin to heal ourselves, our families, and our communities…
